The principal aim of the Philippines Research Program is to provide support for targeted research on the issue of drug use and IDU related HIV in the Philippines, with the intent of developing a profile of the pattern of IDU related harms and HIV prevalence.
HAARP is currently supporting three research projects in the Philippines. These are:
- Knowledge attitude and practices related to risk of HIV infection among people who inject drugs in prisons and drug rehabilitation centers in Metro Manila by the Philippines NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare, Inc (PNGOC).
- Designing peer education intervention packages for prevention of STI and HIV among sex workers and people who inject drugs by the College of Public Health, University of the Philippines.
- Knowledge, attitude and practices related to risk of HIV infection among people who are injecting drugs in Metro Manila by the Psychology Department of Ateneo de Manila University.
The results of these research projects will be published through the HAARP website. |
