HAARP TSU will conduct a Training of Trainers at the regional level

The training manual aims to build essential outreach skills among people working directly with drug users and draws from experience of outreach workers and guidelines developed by WHO and other expert organisations. The training will be held on April 5-9, 2010 at Rose Garden Resort, Nakorn Pathom.

Law Enforcement and Harm Reduction: Effective Partnerships

This seminar will bring together regional expertise from the law enforcement andhealth sectors to explore issues of HIV and injecting drug use in Vietnam,Cambodia, Laos and beyond.

Expression of Interest for Cross Border Projects

The cross border project (s) will support harm reduction interventions at one or more sites between two HAARP countries. The following border regions are of interest to HAARP:1. The Golden Triangle; (between Burma, Laos, Southern China and Viet Nam) 2. South-eastern Cambodia/South-western Viet Nam.

2008-2009 Annual Summary Conference for the HAARP China National Flexible

HAARP National Project Office, National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (NCAIDS) of China National CDC conducted the 2008-2009 HAARP Annual Summary Conference in Ruili, Yunnan Province from Sept 1st to Sept 2nd, 2009.

Advocacy workshop

On 4th- 5th December 2009, the HAARP Advocacy Workshop was held in Bangkok with the objectives of mapping regional level advocacy efforts and reviewing the HAARP Advocacy Strategy.

Capacity building for outreach

In November 2009, outreach workers from the Burma (Myanmar) Country Program participated in a three-day training workshop in Mae Sai on the Thai side of the Burmese border.

Asian drug users unite to form regional organization

Over twenty-five drug users from nine different countries met in Bangkok on 16th and 17th October 2009 to finalize the Asian Network of People who Use Drugs (ANPUD) Constitution and elect a Steering Committee for the first regional network of people who use drugs.

HIV/AIDS prevention efforts get booster shot

HAARP in Lao PDR will contribute to achieving development priorities stated in the National Strategy and Action Plan on HIV/AIDS/STIs and the National Drug Control Masterplan.

RTCU and AusAID Experts Visit Jinning County

An expert team of RTCU Senior Technical Advisor, Senior Program Officer of Australian Embassy in Beijing, National Program Office Manager, and NCAIDS International Cooperation Foreign Affairs Assistant visited Jinning to assist with the formulation of annual work plan, and cross-border activities.

Australia's new strategy to tackle HIV in the Asia Pacific region was launched in Bangkok on 1st May 2009 by Mr Bob McMullan, Australia's Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance.

Cambodia's Country Flexible Program was launched on the 29th January 2009 in Phnom Penh.

HAARP Advisory Board Virtual Meeting

The HAARP advisory board meets for the third time.

United Nations Conference on Law Enforcement and HIV Prevention

A regional conference highlighted the importance of law enforcement agencies working with illicit drug users and other vulnerable groups to prevent HIV.

The Australian Government is stepping up its cooperation with the People's Republic of China to reduce the transmission of HIV associated with injecting drug use in Guangxi and Yunnan Provinces.

The second Response Beyond Borders Asian Consultation on the Prevention of HIV will take place in Phnom Penh 8-9 October. It coincides with the second HAARP Consultation and Coordination Forum.

Dutch to Join HAARP in Vietnam

The Netherlands Government has expressed a willingness to join the HAARP Country Flexible Program (CFP) in Vietnam.

UN Secretary General: Criminalisation of Drugs a Barrier

An independent Commission on AIDS in Asia has released a report outlining strong recommendations for more effective national responses to AIDS across Asia. The report was presented to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on 26 March at an event in New York.
